The why behind Hop's Amsterdam
Share
Hops Amsterdam didn’t start with a business plan.
It started with a feeling.
I’ve always been drawn to old objects — pieces that already lived a life before they found their way to me. Pots with small cracks, faded colours, signs of use. Objects that aren’t perfect, but honest. They carry time, memory, and character. And somehow, they always felt more alive than anything new.
Over the years, I noticed how often these kinds of objects stayed with me. I would find them at flea markets, in forgotten corners of shops, sometimes even rescued from being thrown away. I brought them home, lived with them, and slowly began to paint them — not to make them “better”, but to give them a new chapter.
What started as a creative outlet became something more meaningful.
Painting these old pots made me slow down. It made me look differently at what already exists, instead of always searching for something new. It became a quiet rebellion against fast interiors, trends that come and go, and the idea that everything needs to be perfect.
Hops Amsterdam grew from that place.
I wanted to create a space where creativity and circular living meet. Where old objects are not seen as outdated, but as full of possibility. Every piece I work on already has a story — my role is simply to add a layer, not erase what was there before.
To me, Creative Living is about choosing with intention. About surrounding yourself with things that feel good, that tell a story, that don’t shout for attention but quietly belong. A home doesn’t have to be finished or flawless. It just has to feel like yours.
Hops Amsterdam is an invitation to look differently. To reuse, to reimagine, to slow down and to make space for objects with soul.
